Horseback riding

Horseback riding can be the ultimate adventure!

Horseback riding may not sound like a very adventurous activity. In fact, it may look very boring from the outside. After all, the rider seems like they’re just sitting there, letting the horse do all the work.

But the truth is, horseback riding is a very complete, healthy and fun activity that strenthens the
body, increases organ functions, clears the mind and is very relaxing. It’s a very fun outdoor activity for all ages, that is easy to learn, and that can be done alone or in a group. Ultimately, horseback riding can become the ultimate outdoor adventure.

Since horseback riding is an outdoor activity, you will need some good resistant outdoor clothes that will keep you warm but that will also have enough breathability.

Horseback riding is really good for the body, the mind and the spirit. On a physical level, riding a

horse involves balance, coordination, and body awareness. It strengthens the leg muscles, abdominals, the shoulders and the back. It also stimulates internal organs, such as aiding the liver functions and digestion. It also constitutes a great workout, burning 5 calories per minute for somebody weighing 150lb.

Since it's always important and fun to wear the right clothes while riding a horse, you will need to get some basic RIDING EQUIPMENT

On the mental level, horseback riding is great exercise for the brain. It has been scientifically proven that lifelong learning prevents memory loss and alzheimer. The brain is like a muscle, and needs to be exercised in order to stay young and fit. Horseback riding involves coordination, proprioception and body awareness. At beginner, intermediate or advanced levels, horseback riding involves skills to learn.

On the emotional and spiritual level, horseback riding has many benefits. Mostly, it is a very
relaxing activity. It uses enough of the brain to think of nothing else, hence giving the feeling of « forgetting » daily worries and troubles, but without beeing intellectually exhausting. It’s also a great opportunity to be in the outdoors, to breath fresh air and to take in the scenery. And don't forget to take pictures!

It also has been proven that prolonged mild physical exercise makes the brain produce endorphines, a natural antidepressant and relaxant.
